02Definition

PUP (PlayStation Update Package): Sony's official, signed system-software file for PlayStation 5. In Meridian's docs, PUP always means the unmodified PS5UPDATE.PUP fetched from Sony's system-software page — never a patched, partial, or renamed file.

Meridian verifies the file on install and rejects anything else. Verification failure means the download was truncated or tampered with; the fix is a fresh download, never a patch.

03Usage

  • Install via File then Install Firmware per Install firmware.
  • Confirm via the firmware version string in About. No version, no boot.
  • Meridian ships with no PUP. Own your library; fetch firmware yourself from Sony.

Free build: Download Meridian. 400+ owned titles recognized once firmware is present.

04Questions

Q.01Is the PUP the same as the emulator?

No. Meridian is the launcher; the PUP is Sony's official system software that Meridian boots.

Q.02Why must it be unmodified?

System behavior must match the console bit for bit. Modifications break that contract and fail verification.

Q.03Where is the install procedure?

In Install firmware: official PUP, File then Install Firmware, confirm version.
