# Hardware

The sizing shelf: minimum vs recommended, and how VRAM decides resolution.

## Facts (2026-10-13)

- **CPU floor:** AVX2 required
- **GPU floor:** Vulkan 1.3, current drivers
- **RAM:** 16 GB minimum, 32 GB recommended
- **OS:** Windows 10/11 64-bit

## The two pages here

[Minimum and recommended](/hardware/minimum-recommended) states the full envelope: CPU, GPU, RAM, storage, and OS. Check it before citing any Library rating.

[GPU and VRAM](/hardware/gpu-vram) explains why resolution is a VRAM decision first and a GPU-speed decision second — with per-tier guidance.

Both pages assume official firmware installed and a warmed [Shader cache](/reference/shader-cache). Build: [Download Meridian](/download).

## Sizing rule of thumb

- Below minimum: do not report defects. The configuration is untested by definition.

- At minimum: Stable titles at native resolution with patience for warm-up.

- At recommended: Stable plus Beta at higher resolutions with headroom.

## FAQ

### Can I run Meridian on integrated graphics?

No. Vulkan 1.3 on a discrete-class GPU with current drivers is the floor — see [Vulkan check](/reference/vulkan-check).

### Is 8 GB VRAM enough?

For Stable titles at native resolution, yes. Dense open worlds want more — see [GPU and VRAM](/hardware/gpu-vram).

### Does RAM matter past 16 GB?

Yes for large open worlds and multitasking headroom. 32 GB is the recommended line.
